GBA POLSKA offers a wide range of accredited water tests dedicated to hospitals, other medical entities and entities cooperating with the health service (hospital laundries, pharmacies) in accordance with current legislation.

As part of our offering, we provide accredited sampling services with physicochemical and microbiological analyses:
drinking water and hot water;
water for dialysis and haemodialysis;
process water;
water for pharmaceutical purposes.

Drinking water

We test water intended for consumption in accordance with the applicable regulation of the Minister of Health. The laboratory is approved by the State Sanitary Inspectorate for both sampling and microbiological, physicochemical and sensory analyses.

The analysis covers the full range of drinking water tests:

  • monitoring group A (basic range of microbiological, physico-chemical and sensory parameters);
  • monitoring group A and B (extended range of microbiological, physicochemical and sensory parameters);
  • hot water monitoring for Legionella sp. (tests in 100ml and 1000ml volumes).

We also offer monitoring of radioactive substances.

Water testing is carried out using accredited methods in accordance with current legislation.

Water for dialysis and haemodialysis

This is the water used in dialysis treatments with the highest microbiological and chemical purity; water for such tasks is defined by special guidelines such as standards: Asociation for the Advancament of Medical Instrumantation, European Pharmacopoeia, Polish Pharmacopoeia. They specify the maximum permissible concentrations of substances that may be present in water intended for dialysis. If water intended for this purpose has incorrect parameters, it can pose a real threat to the patient’s health or even life.

Dialysis water analysis includes:

Microbiological tests: determination of bacterial endotoxins, total microbial count and presence of Esherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa;

Physicochemical tests: metals (including heavy metals); cations, e.g. calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium; anions, e.g. sulphates, nitrates, fluorides; oxidising substances or total organic carbon; specific electrical conductivity; chlorine.

The testing of dialysis water carried out at GBA POLSKA meets the requirements of the National Health Fund.

Process water

This is water used to supply sterilisers and water used in endoscopy. Such water should be of a quality that complies with accepted standards for sterilisers or meets pharmacopoeial requirements according to the monograph Aqua Purificata.

Process water analysis may include:

  • Physicochemical tests in accordance with EN 285 containing the requirements of manufacturers of technical and medical devices;
  • Microbiological and physicochemical testing in accordance with the pharmacopoeial monograph Aqua Purificata.

Sampling of process water is carried out by accredited methods in accordance with current legislation.

Water for pharmaceutical purposes

This is the water used for pharmacy formulations and drug production (including parenteral administration). According to the Polish Pharmacopoeia, water for pharmaceutical purposes is divided into several types: purified water, water for injection (injections) WFI, highly purified water HPW and water for pharmacy formulation.

All the above-mentioned types of water have detailed requirements (monographs) for microbiological and physicochemical parameters to be verified when assessing their quality and suitability.

In terms of testing, it means:

  • Microbiology: presence of bacterial endotoxins and total microbial count;
  • Physicochemistry: total organic carbon (TOC), nitrates, electrical conductivity, appearance, heavy metals, aluminium content.

GBA POLSKA laboratories offer comprehensive testing of water for pharmaceutical purposes in accordance with the requirements of the Polish Pharmacopoeia.
